Fonda San Miguel is an Austin classic and go-to for when you’re feeling “fancy” and want a great fine-dining experience. The menu is made up of authentic Mexican cuisine that has been perfected since they first opened its doors in 1975. Be sure to check out their incredible Sunday brunch buffet!

The sugar pine is a new Japanese cafe in Austin that just opened its doors in April 2019. You’ll find some of the best Bento boxes and Onigiri in the city here. From the cute interior design to the incredible dish presentation (let alone taste), you can tell that this new Austin staple takes pride in everything they do. Also, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT miss the opportunity to try their out-of-this-world-delicious homemade ice cream. You’re welcome.

Hoover’s Cooking

If you’re craving good ol’ fashioned Southern dishes inspired by the great state of Texas itself, Hoover Alexander’s Hoover’s Cooking is the go-to place for Austinites. For over 20 years, Hoover’s has been an Austin staple where with the help of local farmers in the area, offer fresh, local farm-to-table ingredients. Do yourself a favor and try their Jamaican Jerk Chicken or ribs, it is so insanely good that I’m fairly certain that like me, you’ll never forget or stop craving that taste. It’s just fantastic and you should go there if you haven’t (or again if you have!). Trust us.

Via 313

Locations: Multiple locations throughout Austin

Phone: (512) 609-9405

Think you know what delicious pizza is supposed to be? Think again. Via 313 will blow the minds of any local pizza lovers from the moment they take their first bite of their Detroit-style pizzas. I recommend trying out our favorites, The Rocket (prosciutto with arugula is a spiritual experience), and The Detroiter (Peperroni under the cheese? Yes please!) Sorry Homeslice, I still love you, but Via 313 wears the crown now for this pizza fanatic #sorrynotsorry

Franklin Barbecue

I hope you’re ready to clear out your schedule for a day for an hours-long wait to try this one (especially so on weekends). Oh Franklin, why must you be so hard to actually get a chance to taste you?! That’s the question all of us Austinites ask ourselves when we hear all of our friends and neighbors absolutely losing their freaking minds when describing Franklin Barbecue to us and then we try it ourselves. It’s THAT good. Best barbecue in Austin. Period. That is all folks.
